What’s Scary About Attracting More Followers

What’s Scary About Attracting More Followers

Follow Me On Twitter

Think of two different ways you can end an email.

(1) “Follow us on FB, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram” linking to each.

(2) “See how those we work with celebrate our success” linking to a video.

Another fork in the road:

(1) “Sign up for our newsletter here” linking to a subscription form.

(2) “Accept this gift for being connected with us” linking to a form where they can get the special gift.

The signature at the end of an email is just one place where you decide to either get attention or reward those who already pay attention to you.

What’s scary about attracting followers is by seeking out new followers, you’re turning your shoulder to those you already have.

The less scary, more beneficial action to take is creating a difference in the followers you already have. This way you leverage the following you have at the same time as giving them something to talk to other non-followers about.

It’s an easy answer, but to a question that is rarely tackled.

What A Perfect Gift Needs

Giving a gift – no matter how much time, money, or creativity was put into it – is still a miraculous action. Without listing all the gifts I have given and received (which is a lot, more so the former than the latter,) I have seen that the perfect gift needs three attributes.

One: It’s basic, but sometimes forgotten. While it’s still a gift, I’ve received dozens of items that, quite plainly, I didn’t like. Sure, there are times to take a risk and there are times that a gift gone unliked can be made into a joke, but let’s be sure it’s something they like.

Two: Everyone, and I mean everyone loves knowing you remembered something they said, loves having their advice shared, or/and loves hearing you quote them. Did they once say (very randomly, I might add) that they are a swedish fish? Maybe they said that their grandmother once had a butterfly lapel. Whatever the odd case – and yes, it’s usually humurous – you can always find a way to tag it to a gift.

Three: Not to be confused with number one, you want the gift to be something they want. She may like flowers, but not necessarily want them. He may like the color green, but that doesn’t mean he wants a moss-covered rock. Oh, and everyone has wants, so don’t listen to anyone who says they don’t. It makes it more difficult for you, but more worth it too.

The best part of these three characteristics of a perfect gift is the ability to randomize them, mix them up, and create something weird.

Problems

Every problem is like a closed hand, gripped tight, made into a fist and devilishly hard to open.

You would think the solution to the problem is in the hand, you just have to figure out how to open it.

When really, the solution is in you. And once you discover it, the hand opens and what remains is a gift. There is always a gift.

Discovering What LIFE Truly Is

Discovering What LIFE Truly Is

A girl once told me at the beginning of our relationship how she was not a gift to be had, or a reward to be won. It is the same with life — it is not a problem that needs solving, a game to be won, although it has challenges, it is not a challenge itself to be completed. There is not a completion to it and no rewards because there is no winning. In order to find out what life is, consider defining what life is not.

Although, your life CAN have an advantage, and there are benefits to that.

3 Ways To Going Green and Your Uncontrollable Office Space

Of course you know various ways to make your workplace Eco-friendly. Recycle, purchase Eco-friendly products, shut all electronics off before you leave, use both sides of paper, etc. These are all simple minded. When you Googled ways to become more environmentally friendly, these actions were just reminders, they were nothing new.

With my experience in working in an office, I began thinking outside of the box. Can you guess what is outside your box? Everything you cannot control.

I noticed that each morning my trash basket would be emptied and a new plastic bag would be placed in it. Everrry morning. All I tossed in it the other day was a tissue and piece of chewed gum. It is ridiculous that whoever cleans the office at the end of the day puts a new bag in. What a waste of plastic!

Here are a few un-thought-of actions you can take to make your office more environmentally friendly.

1. Hide or place a note on the garbage requesting that they do not take the garbage until it is full or if there is no note on it.

2. Snoop in other offices or cubicles and find items that other people are tossing instead of recycling. If you do not think confronting them about making the change to recycling will do anything, stick a recycling bin in their area and make it an effortless action for them.

3. Paper towel diver. If the bathroom at your workplace still uses paper towels, check to make sure all the ones in the garbage are wet and used up. I can’t tell you how much paper towels I have saved by using the dry parts of the ones in the waste basket.

4. Bring plants into the office space. This makes a perfect co-worker gift as well. Not only will the greenery be another step to giving co-workers and clients a gentle reminder of the environment, it also calms the mood of the office. Aesthetics in the office make it a peaceful environment.

Do you have a few tactics to making your workplace environmentally conscious?
