Doubt And Status

There are two wonderful levers that we can work to pull to make someone’s day, to turn a customer into a loyal one, to retain a subscriber, to keep a friend, to support an employee…

We can work each day to remove the doubts they inevitably have.

They might wake up excited, perhaps, but they also wake up worried and nervous or frustrated and stressed. If we can listen, pay attention and respond appropriately, we can remove the doubts from their day and help them reach their fullest potential.

And after today. We do it again tomorrow, knowing the doubts might be different.

That’s the internal lever.

Then there’s a point about status – the external lever.

A compliment might make someone feel good, but a compliment made to someone in front of a dozen others – THAT’S a game changer.

We can work each day to recognize, acknowledge and perhaps increase another’s status. To do this, though, we need to involve ourselves in their community and in their tribe.

Only then can we help double down on their status.

Time Spent Sitting

Good ideas don’t age well.

Emails unanswered for longer periods of time get less results.

Busy work builds up exponentially when we procrastinate even the small stuff.

Written from the opposite direction: Good things happen to those who act, move forward, and deliver – sooner than later.

Send the email. Ship the idea. Check the list off. Do the work.

Daymakers

It feels damn good when someone makes our day.

And often times, it doesn’t take too much for them to do it.

Same can be said for how easy it is for us to make another’s day.

It’s one of the few things that is both easy AND worth it.

Space For It

On your pursuit of personal success…

You’re going to feel doubt and uncertainty.

There will be times that you’ll face trauma and overwhelming emotion.

You’ll feel the weight of loss and the adrenaline of a win.

If you don’t have space for all of it, might as well make it.

It’s going to come bearing down as a result of your progress anyway.

Find The Delight In The Avoid

All the places, spaces and actions people avoid. All the skills and ways of thinking and moments that people avoid. All the tough steps, hard conversations and meaningful leaps that people avoid.

Find delight in them.

With intent. With positivity. With passion.

Doing so will set you apart, move you forward, and keep you in the light.

Why The Hell Not!

It’s a statement. A declaration. A modus operandi.

Not a question. Not an excuse to find reasons why not. Not a cry for encouragement to not do the meaningful, emotional labor.

Why the hell not!

It’s not a question to let yourself off the hook, it’s a statement to keep you on it.

Benefit Of The Doubt

When it’s hard to give the benefit of the doubt, give it.

When you don’t think you’d get benefit of the doubt in return, still give it.

When times are tough, give the benefit of the doubt.

When times are smooth, give the benefit of the doubt.

The moments that we choose not to give the benefit of the doubt, are moments that drag us down.

Let the anchor go and keep flowing.

Stay Positive & Benefit, Always
