Ready for war?

It doesn’t really matter what the war is against, more than half of every battle will be cleaning.

To brew the perfect beer, everything has to be regularly cleaned and properly sanitized.

To perform the perfect surgery, it’s just the same.

To procure the perfect novel, it needs to be scrubbed clean of worthless words.

There’s a lot of good things happening in others’ lives. Fun things. Notable things. Memorable things.

It can be easy to become envious.

Lest we forget there are two sides to every coin.

There’s little that builds trust up as quickly as treating someone with the respect, empathy and care you would as if you knew just how much they were struggling.

I call it the extra golden rule. Treat others the way you would want to be treated if only they knew all that you have to work through each day.

Swerving is an effective tactic to avoid an obstruction.

Note: It’s a tactic, not a strategy. It helps us in a moment, but not the long run. And a tactic is only effective as the intentionality behind it.

Swerving away from your brand purpose or swerving in another’s lane is dangerous on the road and in marketing.

And one thing is certain about both: You won’t be able to make the change you seek to make my holding onto it.

You’ll be amazed at the responses you get when you finally put it out there.

You’re going to collaborate with A LOT of people.

Some will piss you off.

Some will energize you.

Some will challenge you.

Some will love you.

Some will try to break you.

Some will see and help your purpose.

Some will hope you see and help theirs.

But there’s a lot of people.

If you’re not surrounded by plenty and in a variety of scenarios, then you may want to gut-check the path you’re actually on.

There’s not a method of upselling that I’ve used, taught or had used on me that has worked for every person.

In my opinion, the extra $ of any persistent upsell doesn’t outpace the decreased trust from those we upsell to.

That means the best upselling habit one can truly have is crafting a habit of empathy.

To listen and learn about someone and how you can add value or story to their narrative.

It’s using a different line for different people.

And it usually starts with listening, not talking.
