Most of the words we say to one another don’t carry that much weight.
We can’t remember what we talked on the phone to a family member about last weekend.
Or the conversation we had with our partner before bed last night.
When it comes to happiness and relationships, though, it’s the mere act of talking that builds connection.
Show me a couple that sits at dinner in silence with one another and I’ll show you a couple with a relationship problem. And far greater in danger than one that only talks about the weather and repeats stories they already shared with one another earlier in the relationship.
As a lover of words this kills me to type: sometimes words just don’t matter.
Well, at least which words we use. Of course, the whole point here is that using words matters a whole lot.
Begs the introspection to evaluate how often you are talking with people.
