A Fresh Coat Of Paint

Fresh Coat

If you’re reading this, it’s likely you’re a creator at heart.

You move forward, often. You try new things. Start new things. Let new things go.

While the pursuit of new is great.

It might be worth giving past projects a visit to see if you can make them better because nothing (especially digitally) goes away entirely.

Google rewards posts that are updated with fresh content.

You might remember a lesson you learned from project you launched years ago.

Oh, and we might not always think it, but people notice when there’s a fresh coat of paint on the wall.

Forward (With Heart)

Forward With Heart

What would it take for the idea to work?

How can you turn the work into an investment and not an expense of time?

What if we did X or Y or Z to make the project happen?

It’s far too easy to say no, to shrug an idea off and be a critic of a project.

Maybe the idea won’t work, and the work isn’t worth the investment and the project should never happen, but let’s at least move forward with heart.

There’s No Finish Line

The Long Haul

It’s as simple as that.

No done. No complete. No banner you get to run through.

But there are dozens, if not hundreds of mile markers.

People offering you high fives and water to keep going.

People in disbelief you’re still moving forward.

Others offering you words of encouragement.

There’s the feeling of being on cloud nine and the feeling of wanting to give up.

There’s a lot within the pursuit.

But there is no finish line.

What Are Your Signs?

Signs Of Trouble

The first step on the path to any solution for any problem is awareness of the problem, right?

So why don’t you have a list of signs that indicate a problem (especially a reoccurring one)?

Is the sign you’re working too much that you forgo working out in the morning?

Is the sign you’re not investing enough in your partner that you haven’t had dinner together in a week?

Is the sign that you’re emotionally stressed that you get a migraine?

The beautiful part about listing your signs is that they provide instant accountability for you to enforce a change in your habit when you see them.

Deciding About Time

Time To Time

It’s easy to add things to your schedule, to spend your time, to watch a few hours fly by at the blink of your eye.

Much more difficult to face our own reality of how we use our time.

For too many (myself included) and too often, we try to erase our memory of what we wasted our time on.

But when we don’t hide. When we mark and see and respond to it, we can make better decisions going forward.

The way we feel fulfilled at the end of the day isn’t a matter of how much we create or invest or do in the day; it’s about how content we are with how we invested our time.

After The Hard Questions Are Asked

Tough Questions

We learn when we stretch and we stretch when we ask tough questions.

But don’t be flabbergasted when after you ask and answer the questions, that more arrive.

As Bernadette Jiwa has written, “the path to success is progressive and iterative.”

We need to keep our courage after answering tough questions to ask even more.
