Still Discovering, Learning, Making A Fool Of Yourself

“I don’t mind looking stupid. I don’t know everything.”

Those were the words of a well-seasoned PR pro after asking what “lossless images” were during a meeting.

While she thought she was making a fool of herself, I was thankful she asked because I had no clue what lossless images were either. In fact, it sounded like they were saying lostless images, which made it even more confusing.

It’s a fairly natural situation that if you have a question about something, someone else in the room has the same question, but so follows the tragedy of relying on someone else to ask the question.

Please learn that asking questions that help you discover or learn something new — essentially asking questions that make you feel you’re making a fool of yourself, have the exact opposite effect.

It shows you care. It shows you’re humble and can embrace humility. It shows you believe you can still grow.

IN THE BOX PODCAST

We’re finally here! Michael and I have recorded a handful of episodes over the last month, and we’re ready to launch!

In The Box Podcast is where we take ideas to the edge of reality, we question motives, we search for answers under unturned rocks, and we think about things differently.

The way we roll with the podcast is we have 6 themes and one question for each, which Michael and I split between the two of us. You’ll learn in the second or third podcast that Michael and I don’t know too much about each other. We had a class together in college, which at the end of we would chat, usually resulting with a deep conversation and concluding with some form of enlightenment. Okay, maybe enlightenment is too strong of a word. Basically we have awesome conversations that we think you’ll enjoy. You can let us know if you do by rating our podcast in iTunes.

Important Questions Of 2014

There are a lot of important questions that need to be asked year after year. There are some important questions that are unexpected, others, unnecessary.

I could create a list (a longgg list) of important questions that you will need to ask yourself at some point or another.

Instead, I’m going to tell you the important questions that I’m asking myself this year and hope they resonate with you and give you insight of what you can expect from me this year.

1) How can you bite off more than you can chew and stay ahead of the competition without crashing?

2) Your voice, your story is out there somewhere. What are you willing to try and do to find it?

3) What are your core values and how do you present them?

4) What happens when you leave your comfort zone (job, house, school) and go after what you’re passionate about?

 

There will be more questions as the year progresses, but this is a firm place to begin. I encourage you to bookmark my blog and catch the answers throughout the year.

Funny, if you remember, last year was a year full of questions. I suppose it’s time for more answers.

Let’s Start Schooling Dreams

Even though I’ve worked on writing this for nearly a year, and worked on researching this for 16 years, this may not work.

Just over a year ago Seth Godin asked everyone, “What do you think we ought to do about education?”

Well, here is my answer: Start Schooling Dreams (click the link to download)

Start Schooling Dreams is my 35,000 word manifesto answering the question. It’s completely free and I will be working on creating different formats of it to suit your liking – I simply couldn’t wait any longer to give it to you.

I want to make one thing clear before you open up and start reading. The goal here is to start asking questions and you’ll hopefully realize this very quickly as you read. This also means that I want you to ask me questions. Let’s get a discussion going, let’s connect, let’s change what school is for.
