Getting On The List

Every artist has a secret (and sometimes not-so-secret) desire to get on the list. The top 25, the best author, the VIP list. What does getting on the list say about you?

It says that you’re good at getting on the list.

Not that your talented with your craft, not that your making a dent in the universe, not that you’ve achieved the goal that you set out to achieve (unless, of course, your only goal was to get on the list.)

Lists are fickle things.

Why The Weird

The mass view top lists, the average find and share the weird.

10 years ago they were one in the same. Five years ago people had the ability to search for the weird, and they began sharing it. Now, though, that has become the average and it’s hurting the weird.

The weird is special, it’s signficant, it’s heartfelt. Now people are monetizing the weird, turning them into top lists.

Don’t find the weird, just to share it. Find the weird to better yourself.
