Work That Is Cared About

Work that is cared about gets accolades and compliments and catches on like an ideavirus.

There are a lot of good indicators of someone who cares about the thing you created.

There are, however, a lot of negative indicators, too.

Someone who wishes what you made was different. Someone who what you made is rubbing them the wrong way. Someone who simply wants you to know it sucks without any context.

All are signs that it’s something worth caring about, for better or worse.

There’s plenty to work on regarding the negative comments; taking the candor to heart and disregarding the naysayers, but none of that changes the fact that you made something that sparked someone to pay attention. Most have to pay advertisers to do that; you did it simply by saying “here, I made this.”
