My Antonia

Unlike my typical book regurgitations, and because I would think there is only a 50% chance that you are an avid reader of literature, I will summarize My Antonia with only six lines from the entire book.

“At any rate, that is happiness; to be dissolved into something complete and great.” (21)

Optima dies . . . prima fugit.” (208) – The best days are the first to flee.

Primus ego in patriam mecum . . . deducam Musas” (208) – For I shall be the first, if I live, to bring the Muse into my country.

“It makes them feel important to think they’re in love with somebody.” (228)

“Lena gave her heart away when she felt like it, but she kept her head for her business and had got on in the world.” (234)

“And I don’t mind work a bit, if I don’t have to put up with sadness.” (267)

I also think it’s worth to credit Willa Cather with a quote from her other book O’ Pioneers!  “I have a feeling that if you go away, you will not come back. Something will happen to one of us, or to both. People have to snatch at happiness when they can, in this world. It is always easier to lose than to find. What I have is yours, if you care enough about me to take it” (Part II: XII)

Stay Positive & Finding These Quotes Is Why I Read (well … one reason at least)

Here is the essay I wrote to go with this book. MyAntoniaproject

PR Botique And Originality

Here’s an oxymoron: everyone is unique.

If every PR agency continues to say they are a boutique public relations firm, the term boutique will lose all it’s meaning, all of its power.

Here are four out of a thousands of sites that consider themselves Boutique firms or agencies:

Heck, this one has Boutique in its name.

Now here is where I show that I don’t know everything. Before researching this concept, I thought I was on to something big. I wanted to show that PR firms and agencies need to quit saying they are all unique, they are all boutiques, they are all different niches of PR and to come up with something more meaningful. PR Outhouse, Exclusive PR, PR Booth, or something like PR Superette are all better variations than the traditional and overused Boutique.

All cool ideas, I feel, but then I read this.

So maybe these PR firms and agencies are not doing any wrong when calling themselves a Boutique, but don’t you agree they can be more original?

Ignore and Notice

Ignore… those who tell you it can’t be done

Ignore… those who only tried once

Ignore… those who beat around the bush

Ignore… those who prevent you from finishing

Ignore… those who complain about how long it will take

Ignore… those who give up before they try

Ignore… those who are miserable

Notice… those who inspire you

Notice… those who admire the small accomplishments you make

Notice… those who go after it relentlessly

Notice… those who have been rejected 50 times because they kept trying

Notice… those who watch your progress

Notice… those who are forward

Notice… those  who do what they say they will

Stay Positive & What Ones Did I Miss?

Garth E. Beyer

A Tad Of Politics

“Everyone who wants a job can find a job, no senior fears for the security of retirement, and an America where every parent knows their child will get an education which leads them to a good job and a bright horizon” says Romney.

Every other part of his speech was remarkable. The quoted statement however, is where he went wrong. This is how he could have better worded it. “Where everyone is encouraged to find or create a job, where no one fears for retirement because they learn to fund it themselves early on, and an America where the school system has been changed so that it teaches dreams and promotes passion so that every student does what they love and provides a brighter horizon to others.”

I wrote this when I was younger and was determined that I would become President in 2028.
“I’m a man of heart, not soul. I believe in humans, I will not hesitate to deliver a blow, nor will I be the first to deliver one. […]

Over the years our economy had to take a few steps back to understand itself and others. […] Life is worldwide not only America.

Our aim needs to be to improve all of life by building an America that helps others.”

Infinite Positivity

A possible 5,000 word post cut down to three statements about being infinitely positive.

1. you must use your imagination.

2. you must have an open mind.

3. you must experience fearlessness.
