It bothers me how much art I ignore on a daily basis.
I ignore the guy telling jokes in one part of town because my worldview is that comedy in that space isn’t worth my time.
Sometimes I’m ignorant of the little things like relationship tiffs with coworkers at work. I ignore them because in my mind, relationship-speak isn’t for the office.
So I miss a laugh. I miss showing sympathy and connecting with the coworker.
It’s frustrating that I’m so focused on what’s going on in my little slice of life that my default setting is to ignore the outside world. I don’t have time to be awed by a hot air balloon, I’ve got work to do.
I also don’t think I’m the only one and I don’t think I’m the only one it’s frustrating for that we don’t stop and see how beautiful the world is, how often people are getting out there and being vulnerable, how much we’re missing out.
As a marketer who has made this realization of how society rolls, it’s my goal to insert some trust, some care, and some respect for the artists who despite the crippling worldviews of so many passersby, still go out and play, fly, act, and give.
Although there are so many opportunities to improve this world, our lives and the lives around us, I think pushing a bit on our worldview to see the remarkable in the world is the most important.
